Licensure compacts

Hiring across state lines into Kentucky

Kentucky issues privileges under 1 of the three therapy compacts. Where it does, an out-of-state clinician can start faster; where it does not, budget for state licensing before the start date.

Issuing privileges

Physical Therapy Compact

Kentucky is a PT Compact member and is issuing compact privileges: physical therapists and physical therapist assistants licensed in another member state can obtain a privilege to practice in Kentucky without applying for a new state license.

Occupational Therapy Licensure Compact

Kentucky has enacted the OT Compact but is not yet issuing compact privileges, so occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants licensed elsewhere still need a Kentucky license for now.

Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact

Kentucky has enacted the ASLP-IC but is not yet issuing compact privileges, so audiologists and speech-language pathologists licensed elsewhere still need a Kentucky license for now.
