How to get a Wyoming speech-language pathology license

Speech-language pathologists in Wyoming are licensed by the Wyoming State Board of Examiners of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Below is what the board requires, from education to renewal, with every requirement linked to the board page it comes from. Checked October 22, 2026.

Step by step

Getting licensed

Education
Speech-language pathologists must hold at least a master's degree or its equivalent in speech-language pathology from an educational institution recognized by the board. [2]
National exam
Applicants must have their Praxis scores sent directly from PRAXIS to the Wyoming board office; the board will not accept scores from the applicant. [3]
Background check
Applicants must submit 2 FD-258 fingerprint cards for a criminal history background check, with fingerprints taken within six months of submission to the board. [4]
Fees
The application fee is $300 per license type, non-refundable and payable to the State of Wyoming. [3]
Where to apply
SLP application packets (provisional, endorsement, initial licensure and others) are posted on the board's Applications & Forms page to open, then download or print and fill out. [9] Open the application →
Processing time
Board review generally takes 2-3 weeks, in addition to 3-5 weeks for the background check to be returned. [4]

Moving to the state

Already licensed somewhere else?

Wyoming has enacted the ASLP-IC but is not yet issuing compact privileges, so audiologists and speech-language pathologists licensed elsewhere still need a Wyoming license for now.
Licensed in another state
SLPs actively licensed in another jurisdiction apply by endorsement, with official verification sent directly from every jurisdiction where they have been licensed or certified in the past 10 years, plus ASHA certification or transcripts. [4]
Interstate compact
The ASLP-IC lists Wyoming as not yet accepting applications for compact privileges to practice, so privileges are not yet issued for Wyoming. [8]

Before your full license

New graduates and clinical fellows

Temporary or provisional license
Applicants who have not completed their clinical fellowship apply for a provisional license ($200 fee) and must file a supervision agreement with a Wyoming-licensed supervisor. [5]

After you are licensed

Keeping the license active

Renewal
SLP licenses expire on December 31 and renew for one calendar year; the renewal application must be postmarked by December 31, and there is no grace period. [6]
Continuing education
Licensees must complete 10 continuing education units (10 contact hours) of acceptable continuing education every year as a condition of renewal. [7]
